COMMISSIONED BY CELERY KEMBLE

CUSTOM PENDANT LIGHTS

Commissioned by renowned interior designer Celery Kemble for a newly constructed New York penthouse, this pair of custom pendants was created to reinterpret—but not reproduce—the Animal : Mineral series. Kemble had seen the original collection and contacted me directly to create two fixtures that would reference the horsehair pendants while offering a distinct interpretation.

Working from her architectural plans, I reimagined the design—simplifying the metal form and inverting the original concept. Instead of horsehair cascading from the frame, the final pendants used taut horsehair strands as a structural element, suspending the minimal metal forms in place.

TRACKING OF THE SPECIES

HAUTE COUTURE COLLARS

THIS AIN’T NO LOCKET FROM GRANDMA—Rather, it’s a bold, beautiful way to call to arms.

Haute couture chokers that reference tracking collars that are fitted to wild tigers. Tracking gear for wildlife helps save animals in peril. The Tracking of the Species collars are engraved with a number corresponding to a tiger currently being tracked.

Intended to sell at auction for upwards of $15k—equivalent to the cost of fitting and tracking a single tiger.

PROJECT DETAILS

Working with the Midwestern Regional Director of World Wildlife Fund, the aim of this project was to raise the issue and generate funds to help protect and save these majestic animals from extinction.

Tigers fit with GPS tracking collars can be accurately located every half-hour. This helps scientist better understand tiger ecology and how the species adapt to their ever-changing environments.

Animal tracking collars have already proven successful in effectively catching poachers who trap, kill and sell tigers. Today, poaching is the number one reason that tiger populations are dying. Funding is desperately needed to help stop these rampant killings.
